Hey Mom,
Things are going well. New area is really cool! It has EVERYTHING!!! Wal-mart, Sears, Goodwill, etc...It's great! Christiansburg, I'm here with Clder C. The ward is BIG,I'm not used to so many people in one church building anymore! I'm gonna freak when I get home! LOL
I met the Bishop but can't remember his name. There are a couple of prospects, but not too many. I'm still a DL here, to my surprise! I wasn't told that I would be, but I guess I still am!
My new address is 660 College St., Christiansburg, VA (I don't know the area code) We have a library where we can email from. It's really a city! A little bit bigger than Lacey is (development-wise) (I found the zip out but needs an apt. # to let you all know the new address you can mail to)
I don't know what a Winco is...(I told Billy there is one in his city and Lacey is getting a new one)
Yes, Christiansburg is almost right in between my first two areas.
You'd be surprised at how similar all the chapels are all over!
The suit and shoes are GREAT!!!! The shoes are the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn, without them being broken in yet!
It's OK about the bottle breaking in the package you sent. I was able to salvage all the jams/jellies/etc.
The fall colors aren't like last year because of the heat - the trees are just dying.
I'm pretty sore again - I really need to get ahold of Dr. C. and ask who is in the area that I might see.
Wow - Ben has only 47 days left, huh?
We actually get fed here too! YAY!!!
Could be I will need white slacks - if you do buy some, make sure that I can wear a belt with them.
I'm about 237 lbs. (Billy was about 310# at the start of his mission)
I actually don't have a slow cooker here. But, I would still like the recipes that you said you would send me at the beginning of my mission! Thank you!
Alrighty, I think that's about it for now! I'll be getting used to the area for awhile. OH! Almost forgot! could you put a couple of dollars on my card, I think I'm getting a little low, but I haven't checked...

Transfer - Back to Virginia!!!
Hey Mom!
Things are going well. Doing lots of finding. But not much success...
Yep, I'm getting transferred! I'm going to Christiansburg. It's part of the Blacksburg zone. I get to go back to VA!! Woohoo!! It's a city area from what I hear. Really good ward(my first one!!) and I'll be greenie-breaking(means that I'm this missionaries' second companion).
Yea, I got the package on Mon, I was so sad...the coconut syrup that you sent, exploded! Got all over everything!!! the only ties that survived were that pink one and the leafy, green one(they were in plastic). I LOVE those ties. They are excellent! Elder Jeffery was coveting the green one, lol(he was wonde ing, if you find another one like it, if you could send him one?[pretty, pretty please!!-Elder Jeffery]).
I ain't got 'em yet. (suit/shoes) They weren't at the office when I was there after the chiropractor, so I'll probly get them tomorrow. The slacks are good, almost too tight, but I'll fit in 'em soon enough!
Back + neck doing better, still REALLY stiff and have pain, but it's significantly lessened. Yea, I'm not doing too well at not popping my knuckles, but am doing better at my back and neck. I spent about 45 min at the chiropractor, he told me about the popping, he put me on the muscle stimulation (electrodes that loosen up the muscles so the adjustment is less painful/uncomfortable), and popped my back into place and my neck as well. From what he said, I had 3 rib heads out of place, which is, he said, probly what has been giving me headaches for the past several years
WHAT!!?!!?!?! REALLY!?!?!!?! That's unexpected!!(told him about a friend getting married)
Well, tell her HI anyways!(Ruby forgot to tell me to tell Billy hello)
Yea, our investigator came and we had a really good lesson with her yesterday(Monday). We have good feelings about her.
Tha'ts a lot of stufff!!!!!!!!!!!!!(told him about fabric donations for humanitarian items)
Aww, what a waste of good cake! Bet it was really cool though!(went to a baby shower and had cupcakes - they didn't cut the cake)
Cool, That would be an awesome book to have! Make it so much easier to understand!(on Isaiah)
Yea, I got a taste of what dad is doing as Financial Clerk. We had to sit in on Pres. Boyce and make sure he didn't pocket the money for the offering(He was the only one who gave money that day), but his counselor was in Cali. for the next 2 weeks, so...
I think that's about it.

Hey Mom!
Everything's going well! Feeling better and the weather is warming up a bit, too.
I went to the Chiropractor on Friday and he said that I HAVE to stop popping my neck and back...and everything else too. Neck and back causes spine to fuse together. Everything else - VERY ADDICTIVE...I'm finding that very true!! If I had to compare it to something, it would be like something akin to smoking! Except that it is free, the temptation is always there, and it can be done in a non-smoking restaurant.
No x-rays were taken - just by touch. Sister Thornock wanted to go too but the only appointment she could get was when she and President Thornock had to go to another area for interviews.
Yea, Sister Thornock is great.
Heh, Cool, thanks for giving my letter to the Mia Maid class. I hope they feel more excited to be missionaries to their friends.
Busy, busy dad on Sundays with his Financial Clerk duties.

We had our investigator, K. at sacrament. She had to leave afgerwards though--had company over.
We went and ate at the P's. - always good food. Spaghetti!!
The package you mentioned sending sounds awesome! Can't wait. YAY, Pink tie!! Elder J. will HATE it!! YAY!! LOL
That is cool that Jason, Corbin and Elder Kay got to see each other at General Conference. LUCKY!!!
Our mission reunion is the October I come home. And, President and Sister thornock will be at my homecoming! SWEET! They said so.
Oh, they are selling bulk YOLI? That'll be nice - looking forward to what you are sending me. I'm hoping Yoli puts out the meal replacement drink - that sounds great for a missionary! Especially when you're out tracting!
Missionaries like Ean's companion are a drag. They might as well go home if that is the kind of reason for goung out that they have. Ugh, that irritates me...
Since the library is closed today, we are emailing from the Branch President's house.
The chili social sounds like fun! I miss those activities!

Letter to the Mia Maids
Elder Mulks sent a letter home to give to the Lacey 3rd Ward Mia Maid Class which reads:
Hey, All Y'All! {Translation: Hey Everybody!}
Thanks so much for that card! So cool! D&C 14:7 is a scripture that explains one of the reasons to share the gospel; to share that gift with friends and acquaintances is wonderful and is our duty--not just as missionaries, but as members.
D&C 18:10, 15-16 (I like 10-19) is what comes to mind whenever I hear about missionary work (which is extremely frequently). It's the whole reason we do it! To bring them unto Christ, and in the process, they find joy themselves and us with them.
I would like to challenge you all to share your testimonies with at least one of your friends this week. And, since I can't hold you accountable (follow-up), I want you to let your Mia Maid Leader know so she can follow-up with you. I promise you that as you do this, your joy will "be full", to use scripture language, and that they will not be offended by it. Especially when the spirit is there --"when the spirit is present, people are not offended when you share your feelings about the gospel" - M. Russell Ballard.
My favorite scripture about testimony is D&C 62:3, I hope that it will inspire you to share that fire of a testimony, that I know you all have, with those around you. You will only bless them and yourself.
I bear you my witness, as a representative of Jesus Christ, that I know this church is true; that Thomas S. Monson is the Lord's prophet on earth today; that the Book of Mormon is the word of God, and that it will help a man (or woman) "get nearer to God by abiding by it's precepts than by any other book" and that through the atonement of our Saviour, Jesus Christ, we can be healed of not only our spiritual pain, but emotional and physical as well because He suffered through everything so that He would know how to aid us.
In the Name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

One year in WV
Hey Mom!
Everything's going well! IT's started to get really cold all of a sudden! Last week, the temp's dropped to 50's-60's!! And it's been that way since! Conference was awesome!!
* The pain in the back just flared up again. Hopefully it will go away, it's still there in the background and now I've been getting severe neck pains, but Sis. Thornock will know about this a little later.
* Yes, the shoe size is 13/not wide.
* ...well, it's not like I can do anything from here...And thanks. I sure hope that the shoes are really as good as everyone says they are! Yea, slacks are nice, so that way I can use them tracking and not get them dirty, seeing as there's no dry-cleaners around us. Blue and Black for the dress slacks, please! Thank you!
* Wow - oh thanks for finding me recipes and sending the suit and shoes!!
* I'll be praying for Grandma! Hope she's getting relief from the rash.
* Elder J. is good. We have one investigator - K. Food is good. I like food! We've been cooking with a slow cooker a lot lately: chicken noodle soup, and other stuff like that.
* Yea, I have the audio for John Bytheway's "Isaiah for airheads". It's great. He mentions the book, but it's not really mission approved.
* If I go to Charleston this week or soon, I would love to get some cheap ties from a store called Gabriel Brothers, really cheap clothes (especially ties!!!). Thanks for putting money on my account!

Hey Mom!
Week's been good. Still doing lots of finding. We got 1 new investigator last week. The investigator we are already teaching didn't come to church yesterday though...So we'll have to see what's up.
That is sad to hear Brother Walker passed away. But, he's doing a great duty in the spirit world! Being a missionary just like I am!
That is awesome about Bridey's testimony. I've heard of people whose voice changed when overcome with the spirit, but never thought that it would happen at home! Wow!
Oh, my goodness! Only because he was prompted will I not rebuke him...But tell him thanks for me! (donation received to help with new suit for thinning Billy)
Our RS President is currently looking for another suit for me, so I'll wait another week or so. The suit you sent fits really good. The sleeves could be another inch longer and the pants maybe another half-inch. I really like the pattern, so if you could find one at Goodwill or the DI, I would love it! Also, look for ties at those places too (they're like a buck!) Yea, a good dark blue pinstripe would be great! Transfers are on the 20th of Oct. so you can just send them straight to the apartment. (The next time I will be in Charleston is probably transfers).
I need to repair my shoes, but otherwise I think I'm good for another couple months. If you could find someone who could wear my old suits, that would be sweet! If you could send me 2 pair of dress slacks, that should be nice. These are quite irritating, being so huge on me. Other than that, I think I'm OK.
Oh dear...that's foreboding....Last time Kyle was put into a leadership position, I got it the next transfer...(a friend just assigned to be a Zone Leader and has been out less than Billy)!
I would love it if you could send me out some seaweed for my rice! I miss it so much!! (there ain't no place to buy that kind of stuff around here!).

One of our members had a friend come out to the Women's Broadcast on Saturday and she is hoping that her friend will come to General Conference. I think I've heard that story before that you said Pres. Monson told.

Wow, that's a LONG week! I recommend the talk by John Bytheway - Isaiah for Airheads. It's so cool! It helped me to come to love and understand Isaiah more!

***Tuesday evening we received a phone call here in Lacey from Sister Thornock - Mission President's wife. She was concerned about Billy's shoes - he had just bought them a couple months ago and are falling apart. We discussed brands and came to the conclusion that Ecco shoes (very expensive) would be the best for him. Also, concerned for the pain between Billy's shoulders that is not going away and asked if we would approve Billy going to a chiropractor. She is going to have Billy get his feet measured. Also, suggesting he do a week of Ibuprofen and ice packs to see if it helps his back. She will call next Monday night and discuss the next step - going to a chiropractor. Sister Thornock expressed their love for Elder Mulks and what a great young man he is!
Since we received a contribution from a dear friend for Billy's mission, I was able to order the blue pinstripe suit and a pair of Ecco shoes that are on their way to Charleston right now.
Please keep Billy in your prayers - for his back pain.
